Using Digital Tools to Connect with Students
A document providing advice and resource links to connect with students in Grade 7-9 using digital tools is available below with links to a number of websites. There are a variety of ways to accomplish this work.
7-9 Resources
Connecting Digitally With Students
Considering that students in Grade 7-9 are fairly independent, they will still have varying levels of independence and access to technology. In some cases they will need their parents or caregivers to assist them or oversee the completion of tasks. Some of these resources below may need to be creatively modified to the individual grade level that each teacher works with. Tools such as Hapara that work directly with Google Drive allow teachers to have a large degree of oversight into the completion of student work, to determine if assignments have been opened or started. These tools then allow teachers to follow up with individual students/parents as needed. Utilizing digital tools such as Hapara also prepares students for learning environments at older grade levels. Start with a Friendly Hello! Using a pre-recorded video to send a message to greet your students and their parents or to provide some weekly connections may also be an avenue to consider. See the link below to review some potential ways to connect digitally. |
Resources to Support Diverse Learners while at home
The role of the Educational Assistant and classroom teacher changes in a remote learning delivery model to facilitation of learning activities that a parent or caregiver can provide to diverse learners across all grade levels. Wolf Creek is developing an ongoing list of resources that will continue to be updated as we work with school staff and service delivery providers such as Occupational Therapists, Physical Therapists, Speech and Language Pathologists and Educational Psychologists to provide appropriate activities. These may come in the form of documents, website links, videos, recorded webinars or virtual office hours for parents to join webinars at specific times. The link to access this web resource that is constantly under development is available below.
Alberta Resources Online
A number of resources are available to Alberta teachers to support the delivery of learning to students. See these in in the link below.

Digital TextBooks
Some textbooks for various subjects are available to students and staff of Wolf Creek Public Schools to access in PDF format. Under copyright these are only available to WCPS stakeholders which is why the document requires a Wolf Creek Google account to access the list. Please keep this in mind when sharing these resources. They are available only to school divisions that have a copy of the paper textbook at this time, which WCPS does.

Home Schedule for the Day or the Week
Some families or students may appreciate a suggested home schedule of activities they can ensure is being taken care of each day or week. This would allow them to keep a routine of various subjects and activities to work towards during a week or on various days. These example templates linked below provide a basis to work from.
